Alex - Guitar and Backing Vocals...

Too short to be a model, too lazy to be a professional bodybuilder, not talented enough for "Stars in Their Eyes", it was the guitar that was to become Alex 's only crutch. Medics advised him that the headstock was going to play merry hell with his shoulder if he kept on using his guitar as a crutch, so he learnt to play it instead, at the age of nine. Sixteen years later, he has played with rock bands, dance bands, indie bands, some more rock bands, and has the enormous amp and shiny red guitar to show for it. He has played as a session musician for various studios, and was offered a place at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford, which unfortunately he could not take up. He objects partially to the way that the other AWU members keep him locked up in a cage before gigs (he says he doesn't mind not being fed for days, but the sharp sticks could have his eye out), but not one to complain, he marches stoically on. If asked, he would say that his favourite bands are Sublime, Suicidal Tendencies, Phish and Public Enemy - which is why people don't ask him very often.
